How do I become a Freemason?

All you need to do is Ask...
For a Fraternity steeped in over four hundred years of tradition, you might think it is difficult to become a Mason. It is not.

To Become a mason you must: Be a man, over the age of 18. You must have a belief in a Supreme Being of any faith. (No particular religion or faith is required or excluded; all are welcome.) Live an ethical and moral life. Have a strong interest in the Fraternity and desire to participate in its charities and its activities.
You should be someone who wants to enjoy the company of other men from all different social classes, faiths, backgrounds, races, countries, etc. Masonry is universal in its ideals. You should be coming to Masonry "...of your own free will and accord" and to learn to improve yourself, not because someone keeps pestering you to join or because you think it will help you "get ahead" in business.
We believe that men are first made Masons in their hearts, then they ask to join our Fraternity. Freemasonry will take these men — good men in their communities — and help them become better men.
Each man brings something different into the Fraternity, as different as the types of men that become Masons. But each shares a common core of beliefs and of dreams; each believes that, in a small way, by their actions they help make their world, their communities, and themselves better.

Masonry considers that your family obligations come FIRST, so you must be sure that:
1) You have the time to participate. There are 3 steps to become a Master Mason...Each step or degree is preformed on a separate evening.. After completing the 3 degree's to become a master mason, we encourage members to attend at least one meeting per month --- more often if you get involved in lodge activities. 2) You can afford the initiation fees and the annual dues without hardship to yourself or your family. Please contact Hastings Lodge # 50 for further details on membership fees.
Consider the following:
- No one should enter Freemasonry in the hope of some material gain or advancement. To do so will only lead to disappointment. - Membership is entirely voluntary. The rules require an intending member to be motivated by his own desire to join the Craft. He will be accepted if the members feel he has the qualities making for happy and successful participation in the Lodge. Also there are several masonic groups for the entire family...Eastern Star for the Ladies , Jobes Daughters for the girls and Demolay for the boys.

But I don't know any Masons: - You would be surprised how many men you come into contact with each and every day are Masons... Ever seen a Shrine Parade ?..Every Shriner is a Master Mason.

How do I start the process to become a mason ?

You may be invited to meet with the Lodge Committee or selected Members to answer any questions you may have.

Subject to you being considered eligible and properly motivated you will be asked to complete an application for membership and return it to Hastings Lodge #50.

Your application will be presented to a Lodge Meeting and a secret ballot conducted in which Members vote on your suitability. You will be notified of the result and a  date and time will be set for your First Degree of Masonry. Then after that a date and time will be set for your 2 remaining degree's.
